Q & A with my boys....

This ‘Q & A’ with your kids was floating around Facebook a while back. In 2009, I asked the boys each of these questions about me and posted it. For my blog, decided to update the questionnaire! Cristian was 11 and Alexander was 9 the last time I asked these questions. Now they are 13 and 11…ack! I have included both their previous (in black) and current answers (in red). Both times, I asked each boy the questions individually and I typed their replies verbatim. My comments are in parenthesis. Enjoy!

1. What is something mom always says to you?

C-‘Give me a kiss’

A-‘Xander, guess what?’ (This is a game I have been playing with the boys since forever. I say “Xander, guess what? and when he says “What?” I reply “I love you” which is usually followed by a sarcastic “I know you say that ALL the time.”. I say it to Xander more because he gets WAY more irritated by it…I know, mother of the year!)

C-Do your chores! (He does have to be reminded!)

A-Xander guess what…I love you (see the above comment:))

2. What makes mom happy?

C-Tea

A- If I give her a kiss

C-I laugh when she tries to play the Wii (Thanks Cristian)

A- I laugh lots of times when you tickle me!

5. What was your mom like as a child?

C-She loved to play outside

A-She liked to make stuff in the desert and you were very small…no offense. (that’s my Xan)

A-Sometimes you clean, watch TV or read a book

10. If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for?

C-For cleaning houses? (he said this as if he were asking a question, as if he had NO idea what I would ever become famous for…gotta love that kid!)

A- For being pretty, smiling and being funny (aww)

C-Did you write these questions yourself? I don’t know, finding an unknown tribe? You are an archaeologist! ( that’s better than his last answer!)

A-Um…if you became rich you would be famous ( I could deal with that!)

11. What is your mom really good at?

C-Making dinner

A-Cooking and taking care of us and reading

C-Why are you asking me these questions? I hate this…(at this point the doorbell rang and he ran to answer it. It took me about 10 minutes to get him to come back). Ok, you are good at making people happy when they are sad. You know, cheering them up. (OK…he officially redeemed himself)

A-Taking care of us

A-We play board games and card games together.(Yes we do)

My Confession...Hey I am Catholic!

So, in my previous post I eluded to my "great literary taste" and after a night wracked with guilt have I decided to some clean. So here it is, my big confession. My literary taste actually leans toward trashy....there I said it!! The fact is I love romance novels, trashy silly romance novels. I guess I'm just a sucker for a happy endings! I occasionally read deep, dark, soul searching books, but mostly I like light frivolous fun! In fact this is what my bed side table looks like right now...

Notice the stack of trashy novels...I have read them ALL. So if you need any recommendations I would be glad to offer some. I promise not to tell :)

What's in a name....

I figured I'd explain why I picked the title "A Ring of Endless Light" as my blog title. I know you all are dying to know....right!?

The title is from one of my all time favorite books....A Ring of Endless Light. How's that for creative! But seriously the book may have changed my life when I read it at the impressionable age of ~15. The book is by the author Madeline L'Engle (my all time fav) and deals with death, love, coming of age, the meaning of life and dolphins..it has it all! I realize that the book is not for everyone. My husband read it, at my urging, and he thought it was awful. This may be because he has never been a teenage girl, or maybe he just doesn't have the great literary taste that I have?! Anyway, I think the book rocks and I highly recommend it!

And on a final note, if you are at all tempted after reading this riveting post to watch the 2002 Disney Channel made-for-TV version...DON'T! The movie has NOTHING to do with the book and was just plain awful. You have been warned!
